LAW enforcement officers have been given no promises that their jobs are safe, new chief Patrick Rice said yesterday.

Savings must be made, duplication across Guernsey Police and the Guernsey Border Agency needs to be rationalised and capability and capacity in key areas has to be increased, he said.

But the chief's desired outcome is that the required efficiencies come through natural wastage, better succession planning and redeployment of staff to crucial areas of need.

In an in-depth interview about his new role as head of law enforcement, Mr Rice, pictured, said he had already addressed some concerns with staff.
