FLYBE knew about a security breach at the airport nearly four hours before it raised the alarm, the Guernsey Press can disclose.

But the airline has not answered questions asking it to justify the crucial delay.

Around 200 passengers were held-up for more than three hours on Monday morning after an unsecured door was discovered on a Flybe aircraft.

Challenged over the waste of time – which stranded travellers – the airline said that an airport perimeter security gate had also been discovered opened.

Guernsey Airport director Colin Le Ray said he was unable to confirm a runway access breach while an investigation was ongoing.
