LES Bourgs Hospice has gained royal approval after the Prince of Wales agreed to become its patron.

The news follows his visit last summer when he and the Duchess of Cornwall officially opened the facility.

The hospice was built after a three-year, £4m. fundraising appeal, for which the Guernsey Press was media partner.

This will be the Prince of Wales' first patronage in Guernsey.

A spokesperson for the Prince of Wales said that he was delighted to take on the role.
