A TAXI driver had nearly £600-worth of fares taken from his car as he helped others stranded in the snow.

Dave Solway, 57, was driving from Torteval to Town between 12.30 and 2pm on Monday.

He reached Les Ruettes Brayes and saw many other drivers struggling.

After assisting the other vehicles, Mr Solway, pictured, realised his own had become stuck so pushed it to the hospital. As conditions did not improve, he left his car there until Wednesday.

It was then he realised that up to £600 of his week's earnings had been stolen as well as credit cards and his wallet.

Mr Solway said his car was still locked when he picked it up and there were no obvious signs of someone breaking in, so he presumed the money must have been taken while he was helping the other drivers.
