A WATER cannon arc welcomed the new Flybe jet at the start of its scheduled services yesterday.

Two Airport Fire Service vehicles waited on the runway for the plane to land before spraying water at the plane as it came through to stop in front of the terminal.

The 88-seater Embraer 175 landed in Guernsey on Saturday without passengers on its 'positioning' flight.

It then entered service with Flybe's first departure to Gatwick yesterday morning, taking off at 10.25am.

When it returned just after 1pm yesterday passengers, were excited by the novelty ceremony.
