THE Home Department could face a vote of no confidence if it fails to respond to a damning review into its handling of the AFR Advocates saga, according to a senior politician.

Deputy Treasury and Resources minister Jan Kuttelwascher urged the under-fire board to reply to findings of the Scrutiny Committee and take a report to the States for members to consider.

Other deputies also signalled their support for a debate on the critical Scrutiny report, which stated that Home failed to justify its reasons for not releasing the cost of the AFR settlement after a deal was struck by Patrick Rice when he was chief of police following an unlawful raid on the firm's premises.

Deputy Kuttelwascher, pictured, said he believed a report from Home would be the most 'honourable' way forward, but warned that a vote of no confidence could loom if it failed to give answers.
