BIN MEN hit back in the row over centralising refuse collections yesterday by offering to increase current services.

The group also claim that they offer a better service than any one contractor could.

At a meeting yesterday between Public Services and the bin men – described as a 'courtesy' by PSD – the men presented a plan to begin kerbside recycling after being snubbed by the department in previous consultations on the matter.

A spokesman for the group said PSD had agreed to consider the plan, subject to legal advice.
