ST MARTIN'S will rebel against plans to centralise waste collection, with other parishes now considering whether to join the fight against Public Services.

The parish is refusing to take part in the department's centralised kerbside recycling trial, due to start later this year and a key part of the new waste strategy, as parishioners are concerned that it will force out local bin man Clint Blondel.

Mr Blondel, pictured, also collects in St Saviour's and its senior constable, Andrew Courtney, said it would be fully behind attempts to retain him.

And while St Sampson's senior constable Rob Broome did not want to comment on the issue, he confirmed it would be put to parishioners at a meeting next month.
