HUNDREDS of passengers had 'no other option but to wait' yesterday as a thick blanket of fog covered Guernsey Airport.

Many flights were cancelled on Wednesday evening, meaning a number of travellers tried their luck again yesterday.

But the fog caused disruptions right through the day, with only a couple of hours gap around noon and then again late yesterday evening.

The airport stayed open late with both Aurigny and Flybe bringing in services from Gatwick.

Aurigny also operated a flight to Jersey late in the evening.

Aurigny's red-eye flights to Gatwick and Manchester operated on schedule this morning, but Flybe's to Gatwick was cancelled.
