CYCLISTS are warning that Salerie Corner is not the only potential danger spot along the cycle path in and out of Town.

They also raised concerns about bus shelters and traffic signals yesterday and suggested ways to make the area safer.

Advocate David Allison, 59, died after a collision with a lorry along the cycle path by Salerie Corner on Friday.

David Harry, a keen cyclist of 40 years and treasurer of the Guernsey Bicycle Group, said the route was 'generally fine' up until the Red Lion Pub if people kept their wits about them. However, he said after that stage, heading into Town, the pavement becomes narrower.

'Obviously the narrower it gets, the more people you have on there and it means more traffic. The bus stops are not particularly well positioned and passengers walk off the bus onto the cycle path,' he said. 'Whether or not it is wise to continue the cyclist path from Salerie Corner down into Town, which is used by a lot of pedestrians, is really a question for the States.'
