BEAU SEJOUR creche users have questioned the openness and transparency of the Culture and Leisure Department after it refused to allow the Guernsey Press to attend a consultation meeting.

The department held the first of two meetings on Saturday afternoon, which was attended by more than 20 people.

It was aimed at informing parents who use the creche about the facility's future.

But it was only users who were allowed to be present in the centre's Cambridge Room during the discussions.

Guernsey Press photographer Tom Tardif was allowed to take a photograph in the room before the meeting started, but the Press were then told to leave.

Culture and Leisure minister Mike O'Hara said that was because the other media were told they could not attend and therefore it would not be fair.
