GUERNSEY should invest in its own Wetwheels boat to add a bit of 'magic' into the lives of those with disabilities.

Former UK Yachtsman of the Year Geoff Holt was visiting the island in his Wetwheels boat, which he designed following a swimming accident in 1984 that left him paralysed.

The nine-metre fast catamaran, with a top speed of 40 knots, provides easy access for people with mobility issues.

'Guernsey should have its own boat,' Mr Holt said.

'On an island like this the sea is your countryside and the really sad thing is that there is this barrier which stops some people accessing it.'
