A WEBSITE to help save Guernsey French has been launched by the newly-formed Guernsey Language Commission.

The body aims to work in partnership with those in the Guernsey French community to raise awareness of the language, research and record it and back educational initiatives for people of all ages.

Its new website will be further developed to become a resource for those interested in the language and will contain details of initiatives under way.

Culture and Leisure Department member Darren Duquemin, pictured, who is also chairman of the commission, said the group wanted to be a 'grounded' body of people who set realistic goals.

  • The new site is at www.language.gg
