A VOLUNTEER'S car was vandalised in a 'mindless' attack while she supported Liberation Day.

St John Ambulance volunteer Jane Northrop has slammed the culprits who jumped on the roof of her Fiat Panda as thousands of islanders marked the big day.

The 58-year-old grandmother said she found the large dent in the roof of her car parked at Castle Emplacement, on the Havelet wall side.

Mrs Northrop, divisional officer with St John, said she noticed the damage when she went to move it at 6pm, halfway through her shift.

'It was a cheap thrill for someone for a few seconds,' she said. 'Of course, I am angry. But I just think it is sad that someone has not got anything better to do with their time.'
