Landfill 'appallingly inappropriate', PSD minister tells West's waste meeting

PARISHIONERS from the Western districts had a chance to ask questions on waste and kerbside recycling at a meeting yesterday evening.

The Forest douzaine had asked for it to take place and about 50 people were at La Houguette Primary School.

Public Services minister Paul Luxon, board member Deputy Yvonne Burford and deputy chief officer Colette Falla were joined by dean of St Peter's douzaine Martin Ozanne, who chaired the meeting, and deputies for the district.

Many questions were asked on landfill and at the start of the meeting Deputy Luxon said: 'Landfill is appallingly inappropriate.'

The questions including further clarification on the kerbside recycling plan as part of the waste strategy, whether bags would be seagull proof and for more specific costs.
