A DEPUTY who faces being formally reprimanded by the States has called for the code of conduct rules to be changed.

Deputy Mike Hadley, pictured, was talking yesterday evening, after the beginning of a debate about whether he should be reprimanded for circulating a critical report about the Accident and Emergency Department.

'I do think our rules need changing,' he said. 'To have rules more severe than in the UK is wrong.'

The Code of Conduct Panel held an investigation into Deputy Hadley's actions last month and it found that he had breached the code of conduct. It therefore recommended that the States reprimand him.

He did receive some support from his colleagues yesterday, including Deputy Lester Queripel, who believed he should be praised for releasing the report, which was conducted by the College of Emergency Medicine.

Debate on the issue will continue today.
