A SUSPENDED union representative has been reinstated by CT Plus, according to drivers.

Disciplinary action was taken against the driver in the wake of Monday's 24-hour wildcat strike after an apparent argument with a worker who crossed the picket line. Only the union member was suspended.

Communications director for the HCT Group – which owns CT Plus – Frank Villeneuve-Smith would not confirm information about the incident or reinstatement. 'We never comment on disciplinary procedures.'

Earlier in the week, drivers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the union representative was called a 'foreigner' by the man who refused to join the strike, who in turn was referred to as a 'scab'.

The news comes as a meeting between Commerce and Employment, CT Plus and driver representatives planned for this afternoon has been cancelled, according to a union official. Unite Union regional officer Bob Lanning said informal talks were held yesterday between driver representatives and CT Plus.
