AN INSUFFICIENT number of new bus signs were ordered to cover all island stops.

More than a month into the new schedule, the Environment Department confirmed it was still trying to replace old information and remove signs at obsolete stops. And despite undertaking what it called a 'comprehensive review' of all bus stops, it ordered too few signs.

A spokeswoman for the department said it was trying to rectify the problem. 'New vinyls are now on order for missed flags and a list of outstanding poles still to be removed is being collated in order to pass on to our contractors.'

More than 135 bus stop flags have been updated to the new timetable, she said, and poles for old stops will be removed.
