A SWIM school teaching 250 children a week would go under if Hautes Capelles School's pool was closed for half the year, its founder has said.

Swim Craft owner Margaret Honey, pictured, has lambasted plans from the Education Department to reduce the opening of the 16 school pools to save £100,000 a year.

She said if that was to happen she could not keep her business, which has been running for 30 years.

'At the moment, we teach 250 children how to swim every week, with lessons Monday to Friday all year round,' she said.

'If they closed Hautes Capelles for six months in the year there is no way we would be able to carry on.
