CT PLUS believes that it has done enough to satisfy angry bus drivers and avoid a weekend strike.

Both the operator and the employees' union representatives were locked in negotiations with Commerce and Employment yesterday as part of attempts to reach an agreement on working conditions.

Tonight, the managers of the company will meet drivers to discuss proposals.

CT Plus said that, following the talks with Unite yesterday, the union had recognised that the operator has made significant moves to address drivers' concerns over the duty cards.

'To this end Unite is recommending to its members that all industrial action is suspended with immediate effect.'
