GUERNSEY can do no more in its fight against being viewed as a 'tax haven', a local expert has said.

As he welcomed further steps being taken by Guernsey and G8 nations to tackle tax evasion, KPMG executive director Tony Mancini said the island was already doing more than many other jurisdictions.

However, Mr Mancini, pictured, said little more could be done to change certain perceptions from the likes of campaign groups.

'From their perspective, even if we allowed them to come in and look at every piece of paper, they would still not be satisfied that we are not doing what they think we are doing,' he said.

'Their view is that we are hiding illicit money. That is their perspective and they will always see what we do through those lenses.'
