THE Guernsey Rugby Club's player of the year for last season was found guilty yesterday of attacking a man in a Town pub.

Thomas Pool, 23, leaned forward, put his head in his hands and sighed as the senior jurat, Stephen Le Poidevin, said the decision was a unanimous one.

Pool, pictured, had denied inflicting grievous bodily harm on Lee Falla in The Swan, St Julian's Avenue, on 15 December.

Mr Falla underwent reconstructive surgery on a fractured eye socket in a UK hospital as a result of the attack and suffered damage to his teeth.

A social inquiry report will be prepared and Pool will be sentenced in August.
