PRIMARY CARE is committed to developing accident and emergency services in Guernsey, its directors have said.

The company, which provides GPs for the A&E department at the hospital, was speaking following a Health and Social Services presentation to deputies.

A&E critic Deputy Mike Hadley continued to raise concerns about the safety of the department, but Primary Care Company Ltd has insisted that the services are safe.

However, it added that it did recognise there was room for improvement.

'We are enthusiastic and happy to be involved in any improvements,' said Dr Ian Baxendale, one of PCCL's directors.
