AN UNEXPLAINED blaze yesterday forced a young couple to move out of their rented bungalow.

Their home in Queen’s Road, St Peter Port, suffered severe smoke damage throughout when the fire broke out just after 2pm.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, but it is not being treated as arson.

The male occupant, who did not want to be named, said he received a call while he was at work at B&Q and rushed to see the extent of the damage.

The Fire and Rescue Service’s duty officer, Andy Mauger, said the cause of the fire would need further investigation.
