Bare-chested burglar evades capture after cycling away

POLICE are hunting a man who broke into a St Martin's home in the early hours of yesterday.

POLICE are hunting a man who broke into a St Martin's home in the early hours of yesterday.

The burglar, described as being bare-chested, tall with fair hair, wearing jeans and white trainers, was disturbed by the owner of the house in Route des Cornus, St Martin's, at around 1am, but managed to escape.

Nearby residents said it was generally a safe area to live.

After escaping, the burglar escaped from the scene on a bicycle.

He was seen later by police officers near the Ville au Roi, St Peter Port. Police said 'attempts were made to detain him', but he again managed to escape.
