MOVING all the emergency services under one 'purpose-built' roof in the centre of Guernsey could be a reality by 2017.

Home's deputy chief officer Mark Lempriere said the potential development would save the department an estimated £900,000 – £500,000 of which would come from no longer paying rent to the private sector.

Mr Lempriere said that moving the police and fire station to a new site would bring significant operational efficiencies and savings to running costs.

He said St John Ambulance and Rescue Service, which is part funded by the States was also keen on a move to a dedicated site.
