Pensioner's window broken by pellet shot from air gun

A PENSIONER was shocked after a window in the conservatory of his St Peter Port bungalow was shattered by the pellet from an air gun while he was at home.

Widower Wilf Eborall, 78, said he had not suffered any trouble since moving to Rouge Rue in 1987.

Neighbours were stunned by the gunshots, in what they said was normally a quiet and peaceful area.

Police yesterday repeated their call for witnesses to the attack, which they believe was carried out using either a BB or pellet gun.

Mr Eborall said he became aware of the attack only when he heard a ‘cracking’ sound in his conservatory.

Stunned by gun shots? Witnesses to an attack?

Somebody's letting their English lit degree run away with them.

This should be easy to figure out. The pellet/BB won't have gone far and you'd have to be pretty close to smash a window.

No proof then, so talk of a gun is just speculation?

Here's something that does happen though:-

It may of been done with a garden strimmer ?

Quite possibly. I was strimming about 20m away from my conservatory when it picked up a pebble from my drive which hit the main door smashing the glass. It was held in place by whatever is in the glass to stop it shattering everywhere but you could clearly see the small hole at entry point. Or perhaps somebody shot over the fence at me!

Usual sympathetic response from Your Shout posters. What the heck, it's only a pensioner.

Beanjar

Well its not exactly the St Valentines Day Massacre, is it? Somebody may or may not have fired something at the guy's window. As other poster has said, if it was a pellet or BB it will be nearby.

Peter

If it was a pellet or BB then the projectile would be stuck in the window or have dropped down. Is there any pellet or BB close? No! So it was not a pellet or bb.

Heggarty

...why is he smiling....did the Press photographer shout..."Say cheese and look stunned?"

Don't think his expression quite made either of those.

see that top bedroom window in the background?

I'd knock on their door first...or it came from the "grassy knoll"
