TEMPORARY solutions to replace hospital beds following the closure of an adult surgical ward next year are being investigated by Health and Social Services.

The department said it did not know how long it would take to remove asbestos and re-develop Giffard Ward as the work would be part of the PEH's re-profiling project.

But it did reveal it intends to reopen De Sausmarez Ward on Monday 29 October – almost a year after it was closed to curb a £2.5m. overspend.

'HSSD are investigating a number of interim solutions for the next two to five years to replace the beds on Giffard Ward.

'It will only be closed when there is an interim solution unless there is a need to suddenly close it.'
