PEOPLE are still prepared to put their hands in their pockets and buy a ticket for the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery – despite the increase in cost.

Those spoken to by the Guernsey Press yesterday, when the tickets went on sale, felt £2 for a ticket was fair.

Culture and Leisure said the decision to double ticket prices was made to increase the amount of money going to local causes.

Derek Crittell, 53, has always bought a lottery ticket over the years but has never had any luck.

He said the increase would not put him off.

'I will certainly still be buying one and I think most people still will. If it raises more money for local causes then it can only be a good thing.'
