DELAYS to developing Leale’s Yard are holding the Bridge back, retailers have said.

The seven-acre site is due to be transformed into a commercial and residential development but currently lies desolate.

Plans to build on the former industrial land have repeatedly stalled after the Channel Islands Co-operative Society struggled to find enough businesses prepared to commit to taking space.

But chief executive Colin Macleod said that, although unable to be specific, plans were in the pipeline.

‘We are hoping to announce something over the coming months.’

Poundworld and Paws and Claws owner Nigel Staples wants to see the site developed as soon as possible as the area is unsightly.

Does that headline therefore mean that without the delay, the bridge would collapse???

Futu

yes, Nige is actually holding it up by hanging onto that fence...

oh, that, and yet again, flagrantly getting himself some free advertising by commenting on a situation that doesn't concern or affect him in the slightest.

Bless.

Take your blinkers off!

1) 'Flagrantly getting himself some free advertising' - The GP contacted me as they have done on every occasion, I did not contact them. If that comes across to you as 'free advertising' then so be it, but no I will not turn it down.

2) 'Commenting on a situation that doesn't concern or affect him in the slightest' - My business backs directly onto Leales Yard and is obviously of very great concern to me and every other business on the Bridge and will affect me in every way possible (good or bad) but personally I can only see positives in this development for every business on the Bridge and the surrounding area.

It is pretty obvious to me that not only are you blinkered but also blindfolded as well, if you cannot see that this has everything to do with me. It is also obvious that you have a personal axe to grind in your negative comments?

Does he still sell imported Milk and if so whats happening about it as many think its illegal to do this?

Mr Mint

As a Co op shareholder I would like to know how as a company they can justify the loss of all of the rents that were being taken from the businesses that occupied Leales Yard.

Heard said it was upwards of £300,000 per year.

It would be interesting if their Chief executive would confirm or deny this loss of income ,bearing in mind it has been empty for at least 3 years if not more.

Also heard they have just had a management/staff cull which seems strange as they seem to be a very profitable enterprise.
