TICKET sales for the Channel Islands Christmas lottery have seen a last-minute surge ahead of the draw tonight.

The jackpot now stands at more than £1m. and the winning number will be revealed at 6.20pm at an event in Market Square.

Paperbox proprietor Philip Morgan said that on Tuesday the Town square newsagents cashed £770 of scratch card winnings and most people used the money to buy extra tickets.

‘We had a huge number of people come in yesterday and they are still coming in today and I suspect that will be the case right up until the draw.

‘The £1m. cash prize certainly has attracted a lot more interest,’ he said.

Red Lion pub licence holder Sarah Shrive said: ‘It has been pretty steady to be fair but they have sold quite well.’
