Bring banks' future to be decided after kerbside

THE future of the island's bring banks will remain undecided until after kerbside recycling is introduced, recycling officer Tina Norman-Ross has said.

The announcement follows the news that one the States eight 'super sites' was moving from Cobo to Grande Rocques and could be scrapped altogether by May.

The Cobo facility was outside the former Hotel Les Carterets and has to be removed by March due to the development of the area.

If planning permission is granted, the Grande Rocques site will be a temporary facility to replace Cobo and will close by June.

Mrs Norman-Ross said there were other options for islanders when that happened.

'There is one nearby at Vazon and one at Waitrose,' she said.

Kerbside recycling is being introduced in March.

Mrs Norman-Ross said no firm decision had been made about the long-term future of bring banks and added that the closure of Cobo was not the start of a phasing out of the facilities.
