Parts of the island will be putting out their dry recyclables for kerbside collection on Sunday night.

Once collected, all the items will be brought to Mayside's facilities, at Les Monmains industrial estate, where they will then be processed through the new machine and bailed ahead of exportation.

Eight new staff have been taken on to specifically work the Material Recovery Facility.

They have all undergone extensive training, including health and safety.

Operations director Liam Bourgaize, pictured, said they have taken about 18 months planning and building the equipment. 'It is now great to see it in action and we are all ready for "manic Monday". This machine is especially made for Guernsey,' he said.
