States efficiency drive 'will not stop at the end of FTP'

A FIVE-YEAR States 'continuous improvement' plan will be implemented to ensure efficiencies continue to be made after the financial transformation programme ends, it has been confirmed.

The current savings drive is due to end this year and it is expected that it will achieve £31m. in recurring savings.

But the States' new chief executive, Paul Whitfield, pictured, said that efficiencies would not stop there.

'One thing I am doing over the next few months is putting together a vision and direction for the whole of the public sector,' he said.

'That will be broken down into a five-year plan for beyond the FTP.

'But it's not all going to be about money and efficiencies.

'It's about "are we delivering the best services for our customers that we can do?".
