Truck blocks access to revamped Chouet restaurant

A BITTER row over a new restaurant's access will be fought out in court after disgruntled neighbours used their truck to block its entrance.

The former Chouet Tea Rooms is to re-launch as Roc Salt Restaurant in May but the truck has been blocking the main access to the property, which is at the end of a gravelled track, for a month.

And now the property owner Sundowners (Chouet) Ltd has applied to the court to get the vehicle removed.

It has also applied for a permanent injunctive relief order, which would mean that the neighbours would not be allowed to park anything on the track to block access again.

A hearing held in the Ordinary Division of the Royal Court was yesterday adjourned for the neighbours, Andrew and Aileen Chapple, to file defences.

The row broke out following a liquor licence application and it is believed the Chapples have issues with the restaurant's proposed times of opening. The two properties neighbour one another and at one time were part of one parcel of land.
