Ladies' Bay water fail puzzles beachgoers

POOR water quality will not put off users of Ladies Bay from returning to the area, many have said.

The beach was the only one in the Channel Islands to fail to meet the Marine Conservation Society's minimum water quality standard.

But while some users said it might put them off swimming in the bay, the majority said it would not stop them from going there again.

Regular beachgoer Kim Martin, 47, was surprised to hear the water quality results.

'I love it down here,' she said.

'It's good because I can bring the dog as well.

Dog walker Sarah Hulme said she would not bathe in the bay but that was more because of the temperature of the sea.

She would continue to walk her dogs along the beach, she added.
