Clipper out of service for at least 10 days due to damage

COMMODORE CLIPPER will remain out of service until at least 27 July after an inspection found the damage to the ferry was worse than originally expected.

Condor Ferries made the announcement yesterday after the conventional ferry scraped the sea bed in the Little Russel on a low spring tide on Monday.

The company was unable to confirm when she would return to service.

A specialist team is working to implement a contingency plan, and in the meantime Commodore Goodwill is delivering all essential freight and transporting less urgent freight within two days, it said.

However, the suspended service has caused problems for some food retailers and growers.

Marks and Spencer usually receives a food delivery in the evening when the Clipper arrives at around 4pm,
