Condor charters Toucan to pick up Clipper's freight
CONDOR has secured a charter vessel to cover the freight work of the damaged Commodore Clipper.
Ro-ro cargo ship the MN Toucan will begin service on Tuesday morning, collecting empty trailers in Guernsey to take back to Portsmouth.
The Clipper will be laid up in dry dock until 26 August after it scraped the seabed in the Little Russel on 14 July.
Condor chief executive James Fulford said the company was committed to providing a lifeline service to the island.
'We are very pleased today to be able to announce this initial charter solution, which will come into service very quickly, making a substantial contribution to easing the supply chain challenges,' he said.
'Our fleet management teams have been working around the clock to secure the vessel. We are continuing to work very closely with our freight customers, along with our colleagues at all the ports we operate from, and would like to thank them for their support over the last week.
'Over and above this initial solution, we will work with our freight customers to review the arrangements we have in place to protect the supply chain capacity to our islands.'
