A SHED at Castel's new Rectory Hill cemetery has been vandalised.

Police are investigating the damage, which was caused between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Names were scratched into a front panel of the shed, a gutter was bent and it was clear that the vandals had been on the roof and had tried to get inside.

It is not the first vandalism attack to have happened on the site, which will soon serve as the parish's new cemetery.

Previously, a side panel and tap had been ripped off.

Dean of the Douzaine Nick Dorey was disappointed that vandals were targetting the area.

'It has been coming along nicely and we are all happy with the planting,' he said.

'We don't need this mindless damage.

'With it going to be a cemetery, you would think people would treat it with more respect.'

Cemetery committee member Dave Chester, pictured, has been helping to fix some of the damage.
