Wesley Guilbert, 35, admitted being involved with another in the production of methylamphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth, when he appeared in the Royal Court.

His wife Jennifer, 33, was jailed for four years after she admitted possessing 223 grams of the Class B substance cannabis resin with intent to supply.

The court heard how Sudafed, lithium batteries, fire extinguishers and ammonia sulphate that are used in the production of the drug were found in the flat.

The prosecution was unable to say exactly how much of the drug had been made but more than 50 fire extinguisher brackets were on the property.

The search of the flat required the deployment of bomb disposal officers due to the volatile nature of its contents.
