Guernsey Police first appealed for witnesses shortly after the offence occurred last month, but have now released the footage, which shows the culprits cutting through ropes, along with the details of the flags taken.

'While it would be virtually impossible for anyone to identify the offenders from the CCTV footage, we're hoping it serves to raise awareness of the ongoing investigation and potentially jog someone's memory,' said communications manager for law enforcement Joel de Woolfson.

'There may have been witnesses at the taxi rank at the time and the footage shows a motorcyclist driving down St Julian's Avenue while the offence is taking place.'

The offenders ran onto the roundabout at about 1.50am on Tuesday 8 July.

They cut the ropes of the Sea Guernsey mast and removed a number of flags from it.
