Pressure mounts on Policy Council over 'fake' FTP saving

PRESSURE is mounting on the Policy Council to reverse its decision to approve a 'fake' FTP saving.

Deputy Matt Fallaize, pictured, has written to ministers asking that they reconsider allowing money to effectively be moved from one pot to another and labelling it as a saving under government's Financial Transformation Programme.

His call has been supported by other politicians including Deputy Mike Hadley.

The controversial transfer of visiting consultant fees from HSSD's general revenue to Social Security's Guernsey Health Service Fund has seen FTP consultants Capita net £40,000 as a reward fee.

Deputy Fallaize feared the decision would lead to other genuine savings being called into question.

'There is a sound principle, established by the Policy Council, that internal transfers between departments which don't reduce general revenue spending are not treated as FTP savings,' he said.
