PAYMENT of £3.8m. to outside consultants Capita for its involvement in the States-wide efficiency drive represents value for money, Treasury minister Gavin St Pier said yesterday.

Deputy St Pier said that if the States reached its target of delivering £31m. of savings through the Financial Transformation Programme Capita would net £2m. as a reward fee and £1.8m. for supporting that delivery through the programme management office.

'The States will benefit from £31m. each and every year on a recurring basis,' he said. 'Overall this represents value for money for the States.'

Chief minister Jonathan Le Tocq also praised the work of the consultants as the pair defended the FTP and sought to clarify the benefits secured through the programme.
