HCT Group experienced a £1.4m. trading loss from when it first began operations in the island in 2012 up to March 2013.

But earlier this week, CEO Dai Powell, pictured, said that while overall the company had made a profit, 'in Guernsey we are not in that position yet'.

'We inherited a lot of issues,' he said.

'But the most important thing for us is that we have a good reliable bus service and we will see what happens after that.'

HCT Group's annual report and financial statements, published in October, showed the company increased its turnover by a third to £37.6m. in part, the report said, due to its new contracts in Jersey and Guernsey.
