Bigger broadband study to focus on islanders' usage

FACTORS that reduce broadband quality in Guernsey will be identified in a larger independent study, the regulator has said.

A pilot study of broadband speeds was conducted earlier this year using data from 25 customers across the island.

Now the Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities, in conjunction with Commerce and Employment, is in the process of commissioning a bigger study across both Guernsey and Jersey,

Director Louise Read said it would provide a firm indication of the issues that impact on broadband quality.

'This will indicate the reasons for any poor quality of service, which could include network issues or issues with the way customers have chosen to configure their broadband services within their own property.'
