Revised kiosk design gets go ahead

TONED-DOWN plans for the bus terminus kiosk have been approved by planners, after it was decided the original scheme would harm the historic area.

Some islanders objected to the original proposal by CT Plus to take the white building next to the bus stops on South Esplanade and make it entirely yellow and green.

The aim of the scheme was to improve awareness about the bus service by having it sport the company colours.

The Environment Department agreed that it was too much for the structure, which stands in a conservation area, close to a number of protected buildings and the harbour.

The original plan for a green and yellow background has been dropped from the scheme and the background will remain white, as at present. The signs will feature green lettering, with a small Guernsey flag set on a small semi-circular yellow background.
