The charity, which provides activities and holidays for islanders with learning difficulties, won the opportunity to host the event through a Guernsey Press competition.

Organised and funded by the Duke of Richmond Hotel, the tea party saw 150 people attend.

Menfun president Ray Peacegood, pictured, said the event had been a sell-out.

'It feels good to finally be here at last,' he said.

'It's taken quite a bit of organisation. We should raise, from the tickets and the money on the tables, around £5,000.'

He said the money would be a vital boost for the small charity.

'It's very important because more and more people are asking for support towards holidays and activities.'
