'Way I was dealt with was totally unjust...' - former CISX head.

'WHOLLY unacceptable' and 'totally unjust' is how the former Channel Islands Stock Exchange chief executive has described her inability to defend herself during a long-running investigation.

Tamara Menteshvili, pictured, has welcomed the announcement that the Guernsey Financial Services Commission had cleared all individuals involved, including herself, from any further regulatory action.

A fine of £190,000 has been paid by the CISX to settle the enforcement action by the regulator.

Ms Menteshvili welcomed the outcome of the investigation, which she said showed that much of what was being said about her over the last two years had been unfair and wrong.

'During the investigation I was the subject of considerable adverse speculation in the media which was fuelled, in part, by leaks from what was supposed to be a confidential investigation,' she said.

'I was unable at the time to respond to that speculation or those leaks because of confidentiality constraints imposed on me by the commission.

'I regard this situation as having been totally unjust. It is wholly unacceptable that in a just society such as Guernsey any person should be the object of unfounded adverse speculation and criticism yet be unable to defend themselves publicly in order to rebut it.'
