Charity worker gets OBE from Prince of Wales

AN OBE has been awarded to Dr Glyn Allen for his extensive charitable work in Guernsey and overseas.

His wife Celia accompanied him to the ceremony at Buckingham Palace, where The Prince of Wales presented him with the prestigious award.

The father-of-one has been involved in charitable causes ever since he moved to the island from St Albans in 1992.

Since his arrival, he has been heavily involved in ActionAid and remains a committee member.

He was a founding member of Hope for Guernsey, an Overseas Aid Commissioner for two terms and a Samaritans listener volunteer up until 2000.
