Boat owners unite over harbour fees charges
HUNDREDS of boat owners last night warned they would give up boating in the face of controversial hikes in marina charges.
A room packed with determined and angry members of the Guernsey Boatowners' Association also put their hands in the air to support a vote of no confidence in the harbour management and then the Public Services Department in the handling of its #MyHarbours initiative.
Not one person in a crowd of 300 at the association's annual meeting voted in favour of the increased charges and there were calls of support for an organised plan of action and a sub-committee to fight the proposals.
President Peter Derham asked all members to write to deputies to voice their objections to the increased fees and to show a united front against the move.
